Wayne Pivac's team will be looking forward to improving their performance in Japan in 2019 when they were knocked out of the semi-finals by South Africa's finalists.

They will play Fiji in the fifth consecutive World Cup pool, and will also lock up their horns with Australia, a team they have played equally in the pool categories in four of the last five tournaments.

They will play the Wallabies in Lyon on Sunday, September 24, eight days after playing the qualifier in Nice. Then they finished the group stages of Nantes facing Europe 1, which could be Georgia.

France and New Zealand will start the tournament when they face Stade de France on September 8.

Should Wales win its pool, they will face a Pool D runner, which could be Argentina or Japan in Marseille on Saturday, October 14, while the quarter-final match against England in the same place the next day is probably the most likely outcome if Wales finishes its pool in second place.

Two semi-finals will be held at the Stade France in Saint-Denis on 20 and 21 October 2023, and the same venue of the bronze medal the match will take place on Friday, October 27.

On Saturday, Saint-Denis will also host the final on October 28.
