ESPN's John Keim reported Tuesday afternoon that Reed said the ongoing concussion forced him to make a decision.
After 30-year-old Reed missed 2019
season due to an injury last fall, he played 10 games for the San Francisco
49ers at a press conference last fall. In the seven seasons of the NFL, he
played a total of 75 games.
According to Professional Football
Reference, Reed received a total of 329 passes in six seasons in Washington,
the tenth-largest pass in team history.
Florida in the third round of the 2013 draft
Washington chose Reed to leave. While numerous injuries have limited him - he's
never played 14 games and has had double-digit results in just five of his
seven seasons - he still has 3,602 receiving yards with 355 catches, of which
28 for Array.
Reed was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2016.
For New London High, Reed made 62 professional touchdowns and helped the whalers reach two CIAC finals, beating Seymour in 2008 to win the SS-class title.
In the 2010 Florida quarterback game, he hit 252 yards with
46 yards, 26 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one interception. He then completed three
years for the gators, scoring 79 catches for 945 yards and 6 points.
Reed was the third round of the draft pick of
the Washington soccer team from Florida in 2013. In 2020, he started his final
season with the San Francisco 49ers. After a pre-season concussion, he missed
the entire 2019 season.
His seven-year career has been plagued by a
series of injuries (including multiple concussions) and he has never played 16
games in Washington or San Francisco.
