While Wales failed to win the coveted Grand Slam, Pivac led Wales to the second title in three years after last losing to France in the final last month.
Wales took the top spot in France
and recovered from the poor Six Nations League in 2020.
Pivac is a kiwi coach who was in
charge of Wales after Warren Gatland left after the 2019 World Cup. He is under
tremendous pressure to maintain his coaching position.
Wales was fifth in the Six
Nations League in the first season after one win and four defeats.
However, 58-year-old Pivac turned
his fate around. After France tried to lose in Paris at the last minute, Wales
was denied a Grand Slam.
Wales Online reported that Pivac
had coached in Northland, Auckland, and Northport before taking the Scarlet job
in Wales in 2014, and is now supported to lead Wales for at least two years,
including the next World Cup in France.
“We meet after each campaign to discuss how to follow up on the plan. We met after the Fall Nations Cup. (WRU) CEO Steve Phillips said, “The sport was then publicly announced by management. Was to give players a chance to experience test rugby and give management a chance to understand their performance.
"Wayne and his team
management and players have accomplished their duties. I know on behalf of the
board and everyone at WRU. I congratulate them on their accomplishments and we
look forward to their continued progress towards France in 2023."
If Pivac is dissatisfied with the
union in the second year, it is reported that a clause in his contract may
allow him to let go.
Wales also did not shoot in the
European Fall Nations Cup last year, only second to England and Ireland in the
group stage.
But Wales returned to the Six
Nations League, winning its fourth championship since 2012.
