All Blacks: Eddie Jones "Golden advice" by Beauden Barrett’s
Beauden Barrett, the top eighth of All Blacks, revealed he was getting "golden" advice from England coach Eddie Jones, who also served as an advisor to Suntory Sungoliath in Japan.
Barrett played for the Suntory Sungoliath during his Super Rugby holiday.
Jones hosted a double training on Tuesday, according to The
Telegraph. Before the Six Nations Competition was held earlier this year, he
also traveled to Japan, and England finished fifth with just two wins.
Barrett
told the media yesterday, "Eddie has a small relationship with Suntory
Rugby. He has always had a good relationship with me."
“If he has
anything to tell me, they are like a little piece of gold. His knowledge of the
game is excellent.
"It
must have been at the start of the season. He took part in a lot of games. He
was over for a few weeks in January and it's over now. He spent a lot of time
as a coach, but he also did some training and drills. He is here, whether for
immediate feedback on the spot or after training after our lunch, he always
gives feedback to the players. When he is here, he is very valuable.
“He's there all day. If you walk by, whether it's feedback or
whether this is or you see it, there will always be a rugby conversation. He's
like all players. He certainly has a wealth of knowledge.
"He's full of rugby and he understands rugby, and he really knows he's very helpful to Suntory, and his advisory role is to coaches and players."
An RFU spokesperson told
The Telegraph that there was no conflict with Jones' coach in Japan.
"Eddie has signed a
consultancy agreement with Suntory for over 20 years. Since joining RFU we have
been satisfied with it and he is satisfied with it. He provides consultancy
services during the holidays and this position will never conflict with
priorities from his team in England. ”
Jones accepted a contract extension for the 2023 Rugby
World Cup a year ago and after England came fifth in the tournament for the
second time, he is under pressure to continue his job. In the past, since the
mid-1980s, England's performance in the game has not been bad.
