The 28-year-old will be the Blues' seventh centurion this month and said he is delighted to continue playing in New Zealand.
'My
family and I love it here. This is our home and our large family is here.
"I
am a Blues player. I love the club and the people. We are developing something
special inside and outside the club and I hope to be a part of it in the coming
years."
“I
am also very lucky to play for New Zealand in a Rugby World Cup. I will do my
best to participate in the next Rugby World Cup and I hope to help the All
Blacks bring home the trophy. "
Chris
Lendrum, General Manager of Rugby Professional Rugby and Performance in New
Zealand said the re-signing of Tuungafasi is of great significance to NZR.
He
said: “Over the past few seasons, Ofa has been a valuable asset to the Blues
and All Blacks, growing among our players and respected by everyone,” he said.
“Ofa
embodies our values - he's humble, professional, and does his best on and off the
pitch. It means a lot to us to know he's back in New Zealand.
"We congratulate Ofa, his wife Emma, and their family and are happy with their decision."
Blues
coach Leon MacDonald (Leon MacDonald) said he is also very happy that
Tuungafasi will be with the club for another four years.
"In
the ground, Ofa is our anchor. He may be a calm person, but his day-to-day work
ethic, professionalism, and high-quality performance resonate in this
place," said MacDonald.
“He
is currently leading a group of All Black props, sharing information and
pushing each other to develop into better players.
"Ofa
are a wonderful person, a devout family member, and we take pride in our work
every day."
If
selected to compete in the Super Rugby Aotearoa game against the Crusaders in
Eden next Sunday, Tuungafasi will compete in the Blues' 99th game.
