Philip skipped the Super Rugby game this season and struck a short-term deal with French top 14 Pau, but chose to give up a massive contract and return home to promote his Wallabies Selected for the July test series in France.

The 27-year-old Philip took part in three tests in 2017, but was only selected as the first Wallabies last year and was ignored in all six tests until last year.

The captain of the Australian rugby team, Philip, has also improved his work efficiency and has become an important weapon for the wallabies, Australian Rugby Director Scott Johnson applauded.

Australian Rugby Director Scott Johnson said, "It's good to have Matt Philip back to Australia."

"Wallabies later year he was the best. During his short time stay in France, he has become a player."

Philip said he chose Melbourne instead of the Waratahs, and Philip said he wanted to give something back to the rebels.

Lock Matt Philip added, "Without rebels and people involved in ecological work, I would never be where I am today."

He said playing in France helps improve his game, although the suspension in France has been a challenging experience since arriving in the second half of last year. But he is happy to increase his test cap limit.

“Wallabies area, I hope I have just started. I have a lot of commitment, so as long as I get the chance, I won't back down."
