Former Patriots quarterback Jake Dolegala crosses the waiver line unclaimed
When the New England Patriots fielded Mac Jones last week with the 15th overall pick in the NFL Draft, the team's entire quarterback room was shaken up. Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham can no longer guarantee the top two on the depth scale and third-stringer Jake Dolegala is pushed onto the thinnest ice imaginable.

Not surprisingly, a day after bringing in Jones, the Patriots broke up with their former practice team passers-by: A day later, Dolegala was exposed to the waiver clause. While this gave other teams a chance to pick him up, no one came in and the 24-year-old entered the unrestricted free agent market with no claimed rights.
Dolegala first entered the league in 2019 by the Cincinnati
Bengals as a rookie free agent. Although he made sure the team had 53 players,
he never took part in the actual match and was let go before entering the
second season. Central Connecticut's products eventually appeared in New
England and spent most of his 2020 campaign in the team's practice classes.
Dolegala signed a futures contract in January, but it took just three months for it to be released. While he can return with a speed dial number, the Patriots are not expected to bring him back unless they need another scout team QB.
