Australia rugby locks up a rising star until 2023 Rugby World Cup
Australian winger Tom Wright has rejoined the Brumbies and Australia rugby team until the 2023 World Cup.

The products of St. Joseph Academy and former NRL players signed a contract extension last year until the end of 2021.
Wright played for the Wallabies for the first time since the
deal was signed in an unforgettable Australian win in Brisbane, making the
attempt in his first contact against the All Blacks.
The 23-year-old started in two other tests in 2020, both of
which were a draw against Argentina.
With current Wallabies winger, Marika Koroibete expected to
travel abroad to reach an agreement with Japan, Wright is part of Coach Dave
Rennie's plan to compete at the next World Cup in just over two years in
France.
Although Wright has played on the wing his entire career, he
may be able to move to other positions on the backline in the future.
Since working with Manly in the NRL, Wright returned to rugby
in 2019, playing 35 games for the Brumbies, including 16.
Wright said in a statement: "I am very happy to re-sign
with Brumbies and Rugby Australia for at least the next two years." The
places I want to go to the most are Brumbies and Australia so the upcoming
seasons are closed which is really great.
"I am very motivated by the challenge of continuing to
grow and promote myself to become the best player and the best person, and I
hope to get more opportunities for the golden jersey.
Wallabies coach Dave Rennie added: "Tom had a good start to his international career last year and showed his ability at test level.
"He is a mature player with speed, good skills, and
willing to keep improving. This is exciting for the Australians to move
forward."
Meanwhile, after being scanned on Wednesday, Waratahs
defender Jack Gordon had questions about Australia's three-Test series with
France in July. Initial concerns about Gordon's anterior cruciate ligament
rupture have subsided, but officials in New South Wales (NSW) have confirmed he
has a medial cruciate ligament injury.
Waratahs did not give a timetable for Gordon's return, but
sources with knowledge of the situation said he suffered a loss to the French
series which started at SCG on 7 July.
Gordon's form this season has been very good, but the Wallabies
selectors may be inclined to choose Nic White and Tate McDermott as their two
center-backs.
The Wallabies will announce the team for the French Series on
Sunday afternoon.
Because NSW props Harry Johnson-Holmes (shoulder) and Angus
Bell (illness) are eligible for selection, hooker Dave Porecki suffered a calf
injury and will not appear on the extended Australia rugby team.
