The 30-year-old Anscombe made 27 appearances for Wales but has never played again since suffering a serious knee injury in the game against England in August 2019.
This means he missed the 2019 Rugby World Cup, just a few
months after Anscombe played a pivotal role in Wales by winning 2019
Guinness Six Nations Grand Slam.
Anscombe has been sidelined for nearly two years, but he is
now back on target to play, the Ospreys released footage of him in light
training On Wednesday.
Booth said of Anscombe: "To be honest, he still has a long
way to go. He's doing some of the training. He's clearly not connected, as I
told you before, we're running into him.
"Gareth Anscombe feelings part and his feedback, this is
exciting and we are preparing him for an important year next year."
"It's great to see him present, the more we can get out
of him. I don't mean just physically, I mean the understanding of what we're
trying to do, this bodes well for him and for us.
“Everybody has their own situations, depending on where we finish and our pre-season starts at the end of July and it takes about five weeks.
"While he is taking a long break it is psychologically
great for Gareth to be playing for him again. It is good for Welsh rugby, it is
good for everyone, and a big and solid pre-season game will get him off to a
good start.”
When asked how returning to training can improve Gareth
Anscombe's mindset and confidence, Booth replied unequivocally.
“For anybody who is disadvantaged of what they love to do. There
has to be an emotional loophole.
“Let this chance come back to you and that’s sure and this is
a massive adrenaline rush for him. It has an impact on the team and you will
see something that reminds you of what you missed.
